In 1992 Stuart visited Asheville looking for a city in which to realize his unique dream; to open one of the first rock climbing centers in the country.  The few conditions were that the city had to be unique, small enough to support his sanity, and surrounded in every direction by mountains.  Some 25 years later, Cowles still loves the city, mountains, and most especially the climbing community members who have embraced this great gym and made it a part of their lives.
